new shoes to heal the blues

i’ve got these new shoes

paired with my flares

i’m walking up them steps

and takin’ a deep breath

learnin’ to enjoy the journey

of becoming all i wish to be

lovin’ a woman like me,

it ain’t easy.

can’t park a car but i can park a plane

it’s okay you can laugh,

just a good stereotype for today

don’t ask me about my brakes

let’s switch flight controls and maybe then i’ll tell you my mistakes

in my safe place

watch on my wrist

counting their downfall

tick

tick

tick

no need to tell me what you think

i didn’t ask

so go ahead, pull that stick out yo’ ass

stayin’ up late but not on weekdays

things to do and a life to make

not for approval and not to escape

the days spent starin’ at waves.

just to say

i wear my own shoes

and i don’t need to borrow your blues

i’ve got enough on my own

and i know exactly what shade of sky to paint

to get past the next mistake.
